Billing & plans

One subscription for every machine. Your monthly plan fee becomes usage credit, machines are billed per second at their hourly rates while awake, and anything past the credit is billed on the same invoice.

Accounts already on an earlier seat plan keep that plan and its terms. This page describes the current plans, which every new account starts on.

Free trial

  • A card and a verified email are needed to start your first machine. The card is not charged then.
  • The first 7 days are free, with up to $20 of usage on Starter terms (5 machines awake at once). At $20 your machines are put to sleep with their disks kept, and new starts are refused until the plan begins.
  • Maritime emails you two days before day 7, and when the $20 cap is reached.
  • Cancel within the week and you pay nothing.
  • Otherwise $20 (the Starter fee) is charged on day 7 and becomes that month's usage credit. Usage above it is billed extra.
  • Upgrading during the trial ends the free trial and charges the new plan's fee that day.
  • One free trial per account, card and email: a card or email that already had one starts Starter right away.

Plans

Every plan fee becomes usage credit, one for one: a $100 Growth plan gives you $100 of usage each month. On Growth, Scale and Dedicated every rate is also discounted. Unused credit does not roll over to the next month.

  • Starter: 7-day free trial, up to $20 of usage; Card to start, not charged during the trial; $20 of usage included every month; Then billed per second at hourly rates; 5 machines awake at once.
  • Growth: $100 of usage included every month; 10% off every rate; 25 machines awake at once; Cost per end user.
  • Scale: $500 of usage included every month; 20% off every rate; 60 machines awake at once; Cost per end user.
  • Dedicated: $5,000 of usage included every month; 30% off every rate; 500 machines awake at once; Swarm runs up to 10,000 sandboxes; Your apps and images set up for you: Windows, Android, legacy desktop apps; Residential and static IPs, private networks and security groups; BAA and DPA; An onboarding call and a named engineer.
  • Enterprise: Dedicated hosts; BAA, DPA and invoicing; Custom limits and a named engineer. Contact us.

Dedicated has no free trial: choosing it charges $5,000 at checkout, by card or US bank debit, and the fee becomes that month's usage credit. It adds custom work (custom IPs, security groups, Windows images, Android), scoped on an onboarding call after purchase, and swarm runs of up to 10,000 sandboxes. Pick it on the Billing page or book a call. Enterprise is contract pricing and invoicing, arranged with sales.

Awake at once is how many machines may run at the same time. Sleeping machines do not count. Plans include no model credits; see Model calls.

How the bill works

Every machine type draws from one usage credit, metered per second, and lands on one invoice.
  • Each billing month starts on the day your plan started (day 7 of the free trial). That day's invoice charges the coming month's fee, which becomes its usage credit, and the past month's usage beyond its credit.
  • Awake machines are billed per second at their hourly rate, with no minimum. Asleep, a machine is billed only for its disk, per GB-month.
  • Both draw from the credit. Usage past it is billed at the same (discounted) rates. After the free trial there is no ceiling on it; your plan's awake-at-once limit, and sleeping or deleting machines, keep it in check.
  • The invoice shows the plan fee and one usage line counted in cents, "Maritime Usage, N × $0.01". The breakdown by machine type is on the Billing page in the dashboard.
  • Upgrading charges the prorated difference that day and adds it as credit; returning to a plan already paid for this month costs nothing. Downgrading takes effect at once with no refund: the lower discount and awake limit apply that second, this month's credit stays, and the lower fee is charged from the next renewal.

Rates

List prices, before plan discounts. Machines are billed per second while awake. A GB-month is 730 hours.

MachineAwakeAsleep
Ephemeral Sandbox$0.0045 per vCPU-hour + $0.00225 per GB-hour of memoryPaused: $0.08 per GB-month of disk. Ended with its disk when its lifetime ends
Persistent Sandbox$0.03 per vCPU-hour + $0.01 per GB-hour of memory$0.08 per GB-month of disk
Swarm sandbox$0.0045 per vCPU-hour + $0.00225 per GB-hour of memoryDoes not sleep, so no disk line
Linux desktop$0.12 per hour (2 vCPU, 4 GB): a $0.10 persistent sandbox of the same size, plus the desktop, streaming and takeover$0.08 per GB-month of disk
Windows Desktop$0.18 per hour, Windows licence included$0.08 per GB-month of disk
Android phone$0.15 per hour$0.08 per GB-month of disk

Disk is included while a machine is awake. Agents you deploy run on Persistent Sandboxes and are billed the same way. Machines run on demand; always on is not sold on these plans.

Ephemeral and swarm sandboxes come in four sizes. Small is the default. A swarm run uses the smallest size that fits its requested vCPU and memory. At list price per hour running:

SizevCPUMemoryDiskPer hour
small (default)24 GB12 GB$0.018
medium48 GB50 GB$0.036
large816 GB125 GB$0.072
xlarge1632 GB250 GB$0.144

For a Persistent Sandbox, New sandbox sets memory (2 to 8 GB, in 1 GB steps) and disk. Every size it starts has 1 vCPU. At list price per hour awake:

MemoryvCPUPer hour
2 GB (default)1$0.05
4 GB1$0.07
8 GB (largest self-serve)1$0.11

For more vCPU, create the sandbox with maritime create --cpu or the vcpus field of the create API; each vCPU adds $0.03 per hour. Its disk starts at 5 GB and goes up to 100 GB. Larger machines are on request; contact us.

Add-ons

The current plans bill machines and disk only. Static and residential IPs need a paid plan (not the free trial) and a verified email, and cost nothing extra for now. Private networks work on any plan. The add-ons that are not built yet are marked so. The list is on Add-ons.

Estimate your bill

The calculator on the pricing page quotes every plan for the usage you expect and marks the cheapest one.

Model calls

Plans include no model (LLM) credits. Your machines can call any model provider directly with your own key, and Maritime does not bill those calls.

The Maritime model proxy (one OpenAI-format key for every major model, with a budget per agent) is paid from prepaid AI credits, separate from your plan credit, at the provider's list price. New accounts start with none: buy them on the Billing page in the dashboard (AI credits, Add credits). When they run out, proxy calls are refused until you add credits or give the agent your own OpenAI key. With your own OpenAI key, calls go to OpenAI on your key and use no AI credits.

Failed payments

If a charge fails, new starts are refused (the API returns 402 payment_required) and awake machines are put to sleep at once. Files are kept and disk is still billed. Maritime emails you. Pay the open invoice on the Billing page (Pay now), or let Stripe's retry pay it, and machines can start again. There is no grace period on these plans; earlier seat plans keep theirs. A disputed charge pauses the account the same way until the dispute is resolved.

Watching spend

The Billing page in the dashboard shows this month's usage against your credit, the next charge and its date, the card on file, and every invoice with a PDF receipt. Your first plan, or a plan after cancelling, opens Stripe Checkout, which shows the amount before anything is charged. On an active plan, plan changes and cancelling happen on the Billing page directly, with no Checkout step. A plan change applies at once; a cancelled paid month runs to its end.
